The German market leader in natural food colours was integrated into the Sensient group in 2000. Founded in 1946 Dr. Marcus concentrated on the production of valuable pharmaceutical herbal extracts. Natural food colours and emulsifiers followed soon. In the eighties the company focussed on the production of high quality natural colour emulsions and colouring foodstuffs for the food industry and soon became a market leader. Besides providing international representatives, Dr. Marcus GmbH founded facilities in France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Serbia from 1995.
The Kings Lynn based company joined the Sensient group in 1992. The original Warner Jenkinson was born out of the union of Butterfield Laboratories and Williams of Hounslow. Butterfield Laboratories in turn had grown out of the colour and flavor traders Butterfield Brothers Ltd. and the Drake Law Laboratories - a manufacturer of natural and synthetic food colours - in mid 50s. The expertise of these companies and the close ties with the US parent company led Warner Jenkinson to the top of the international food colour market.
The company, in the heart of the Italian wine producing area, has more than 50 years experience in production of anthocyanin based colours. Reggiana Antociani has been part of the Sensient group since 1992. Reggiana Antociani serves the international food and beverage markets with its Anthocyanin based colours extracted from red grapes, black carrots and elderberries.
